After more than 20 years as a high school teacher and guidance counselor working extensively with students and their families, Zainab is currently completing her Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology. This is a culmination of her passion for helping people navigate life’s challenges with a focus on empowering her clients to instigate change in their lives.
Zainab works with adults and adolescents from a client-centred, strength-based approach that weaves together a number of modalities such humanism, Gestalt, and somatic work.
Anxiety, self-esteem, depression, life transitions, grief, and building healthy relationships are key client concerns that Zainab helps clients resolve.
Zainab's non-judgmental, honest and compassionate stance creates space for difficult emotions in an atmosphere in which clients can discover their own strengths and learn new skills.
Zainab uses a variety of therapeutic tools, tailoring her approach to meet clients’ specific needs. Modalities include identifying and shifting unhelpful thought patterns (CBT), nurturing commitment to living one's values fully through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), cultivating non-judgmental present awareness (mindfulness-based practices), and identifying strengths to address current challenges through Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
